Solo Show by Robert Swedroe
Intricate, complex and vibrant with color, Swedroe’s captivating creations appear to draw from the artist’s subconscious while epitomizing his affinity for structure and detail. Some pieces reflect a joie de vivre, like a delightful study of paint cans exploding in primary colors. Others display passion that looms large for beauty in nature, women, birds and animals. More than several border on the mystic and surreal, subliminally mirroring the artist’s fears and fantasies. Kelley Roy Gallery, 305-447-3888 www.kelleyroygallery.com

Florida Jews In Sports
It is only in modern history that sports became popular and widespread among Jews, who like to brag about their sports heroes. In 1934 Hank Greenberg, the first Jew in the Baseball Hall of Fame, sat out a pennant game to observe Yom Kippur. Sandy Koufax did not pitch in the first game of 1965 World Series on Yom Kippur. Our chests swelled with pride when windsurfer Gal Fridman won Israel’s first-ever gold medal in the 2004 summer Olympics. Peninsula Project Illustrated
An exhibition of monumental sculpture in seven cities around the Florida peninsula. A sculpture will be installed at a public site in each city, incorporating itself into the Florida landscape, and interacting with the community on a daily basis. Accompanying the monument in each city will be an exhibit at a local art museum. The simultaneous sculpture and exhibits throughout the peninsula will create a cultural awareness across the state, encouraging education, interaction and discussion between both the cities’ communities and Florida’s visitors. “Each sculpture is part of a continuous sentence, all referencing one another, each an individual part of a greater whole. In many regards it may be seen to be all one work! It is very much about the process of working together to extend the influence of a particular part of a visual vocabulary.”- JOHN HENRY.
