Tere O’conner-Rammed Earth

Guggenheim & Bessie Award-winner NYC-based choreographer Tere O'Connor and his company come to Miami for the first time. This new work explores architecture as a fundamental, subliminal force in choreography as well as in the human experience. Rammed Earth is presented in the bare setting of an industrial building turned art gallery, abandoning the traditional stage and defying expectations. Audience members become active participants, carrying their chairs from place to place as the dancers move through the shifting space, as they are escorted into different viewing positions throughout the evening. O'Connor's new work is named after the ancient building techniquerammed earth, a construction process in which a damp mixture of earth is compressed into a frame that molds the shape of a wall, and then allowed to bake in the sun. 1,000 Homosexuals

1,000 Homosexuals tells the story of Anita Bryant's 1977 crusade against gay civil rights. The play is a documentary/fantasy/comedy presenting Anita just the way she would want: as a musical Joan of Arc battling a powerful and perverse gay mafia. The play bends documentary sources such as government records, newspaper stories, and underground gay manifestos into a hilariously twisted carnival of '70s-style sex and faith. A Matter Of Life And Death

Johann Sebastian Bach, outliving one wife and 12 of his 22 children, experienced the passage from life to death constantly. His Cantata No. 82, Ich Habe Genug, is a stunning illustration of a soul gratefully leaving its earthly body. Bach's masterwork joins Schubert's Death and the Maiden on a double bill which examines the struggle, resignation and peace between this life and the next. The Seafarer

The Seafarer is a chilling new play about the sea, Ireland, and the power of myth. It's Christmas Eve and Sharky has returned to Dublin to look after his irascible, aging brother who's recently gone blind. Old drinking buddies, Ivan and Nicky, are holed up at the house too, hoping to play some cards. With the arrival of a stranger from the distant past, the stakes are raised even higher. Sharky may be playing for his very soul. Mosaic Theatre, Plantation, 954-577-8243 www.mosaictheatre.com
